BUSAN – The bustling city of Busan has announced the commencement of the 2023 Busan Garden Expo, titled “Wandering in the Garden with the Glimmer of Water”. Set against the serene backdrop of Dadaepo Beach Park’s Central Plaza, the expo will unfold from the 26th to the 29th of this month.
Now in its ninth iteration, the Busan Garden Expo aims to serve as a nexus for companies and visitors to connect through diverse content. A celebration at its core, it hopes to amplify the garden landscaping industry. Spearheaded by the city and the Busan Landscape Association, attendees will be treated to garden exhibits, industry showcases specially planned events, and interactive experiences.
One of the highlights promises to be the Palm Garden Competition, showcasing various garden artworks. Busan authorities have encouraged innovative and high-standard community gardens for this competition, with selected works being displayed during the event. Apart from these, autonomous gardens from the Saha District, the Haeundae Arboretum, and Busan’s foremost local garden – Samnak Ecological Park will be featured. To further captivate visitors, splendid flower-decorated streets, water-lit gardens, and star-lit gardens are among the visual treats in store.
The industry exhibition will provide a platform for renowned enterprises in the gardening sector to introduce new materials and trends. In addition to purchasing opportunities, visitors can partake in diverse experiential programs. Daily giveaways will see the first 1,000 visitors receiving rosemary plants, while a stamp tour offers participants souvenirs. For family-oriented entertainment, a playful garden will be set up alongside a plethora of experiences including balloon and bubble shows, geological park tours, flower lectures, busking, and crafting wooden key rings. Additionally, a photo exhibition displaying the award-winning gardens of Busan will be open to the public.
This year’s notable inclusion is a special lecture by the garden designer, Hwang Jihae, who clinched the gold in the Show Garden category at the 2023 Chelsea Flower Show. This session, eagerly anticipated by aspiring garden designers, landscapers, and the general public of Busan, provides a unique opportunity to delve into the world of an award-winning artist. Scheduled for the 26th, the lecture will take place at the permanent stage of the Dadaepo Beach Park Central Plaza.
Free for all, the 2023 Busan Garden Expo will be open from 10 am to 6 pm.
