Breeze in Busan / Policies & Standards
Site & Legal
Terms of Use
Terms governing access to Breeze in Busan, use of its journalism and submission of material to the newsroom.
Service
Scope and acceptance
These terms apply when a person accesses breezeinflow.com, uses its reader or account features, or submits material through the website. If a separate written agreement governs a commissioned contribution, license or partnership, that agreement controls the matters it covers.
Use of the site does not transfer ownership of Breeze journalism or create a professional-client relationship.
Journalism
Nature of published material
Breeze publishes reporting, analysis, opinion, newsletters, Newsroom Notes, data presentations and living editorial Files. It applies the standards described in Editorial Standards and corrects material errors under its Corrections process.
Published journalism provides general information and analysis. It is not individualized legal, medical, financial or other professional advice. That distinction does not reduce the newsroom’s responsibility for accuracy, attribution and fair presentation.
Rights
Copyright and ownership
Rights may differ across the material appearing on Breeze. Original text and graphics may be owned by Breeze or the credited creator; commissioned work may be governed by contract; photographs, video, data and other material may be licensed or used with attribution under applicable rights and limitations.
A credit or source line does not by itself grant a reader permission to reuse third-party material. Questions about substantial republication or licensing may be sent to [email protected].
Reuse
Quotation, linking and republication
Ordinary linking, sharing an article URL and limited quotation with clear attribution are different from republishing an article. Korean copyright law permits quotation of published works for purposes including reporting, criticism, education and research within a legitimate scope and in accordance with fair practice.
Substantial or full republication, commercial syndication, translation for republication, bulk reproduction and reuse of proprietary graphics or photography may require permission or a license. Nothing in these terms removes rights that applicable law provides.
Official references
Crawlers and data
Automated access
Breeze allows ordinary indexing and access by the crawlers identified in robots.txt, while excluding administration, account, search and API paths from general crawling. Search indexing and permitted user-requested retrieval are not treated as prohibited merely because they are automated.
Automated activity must not evade access controls, overload the service, collect account or submission information, interfere with readers, or reproduce Breeze content at scale in violation of applicable rights.
Newsroom intake
User and newsroom submissions
A person submitting a tip, release, document, image, video, correction or pitch confirms that they may send the material and that the submission does not knowingly violate another person’s rights. Submission does not guarantee review, response or publication.
The submitter retains rights they hold. They permit Breeze to receive, store, review, verify and internally reproduce the material for editorial assessment and communication. Publication, substantial editing or broader reuse may require additional permission or agreement depending on the material and circumstances.
Do not use the standard form for material requiring a guarantee of anonymity or a legally privileged secure channel. Breeze will handle sensitive tips with editorial care but does not claim that ordinary email delivery is a fully confidential or anonymous submission system.
Participation
Reader conduct and account use
- Do not impersonate another person or misrepresent authority to act for an organization.
- Do not use comments, forms or account features for unlawful threats, harassment, spam, malicious files or rights-infringing material.
- Do not attempt to bypass authentication, rate limits or security controls, or disrupt the service.
- Breeze may moderate content, restrict access or preserve relevant records when necessary to protect the service, readers or lawful newsroom operations.
Operation
External links and service availability
Journalism may link to external sources and services for evidence and context. Breeze does not control their content, availability or privacy practices.
The site may be changed, interrupted or withdrawn for maintenance, security, technical failure or editorial reasons. Breeze does not promise uninterrupted availability or preservation of every interactive feature.
Proportionate terms
Responsibility and disputes
Breeze remains accountable for its editorial standards and correction process. To the extent permitted by applicable law, it is not responsible for losses caused solely by an external service, unauthorized use, a reader’s failure to protect account credentials or reliance on the site as individualized professional advice.
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea. Any mandatory rights or procedures under applicable law remain unaffected. Licensing inquiries may be sent to [email protected].
Maintenance
Changes and contact
Material changes will be published with revised version metadata. Continued use after a change means the new terms apply to later use, but does not retroactively rewrite a separate agreement or remove rights provided by law.
