Corrections & Rebuttals

The newsroom correction process is for factual inaccuracies, misleading ambiguity, material omissions and questions about how an article was updated. It is an editorial review conducted by Breeze.

Formal rights relating to published reporting—including statutory correction, rebuttal and follow-up reporting procedures where applicable—arise under Korean law and can involve the Press Arbitration Commission or courts. A message sent through this page does not necessarily replace a formal filing or pause a legal deadline.

A correction addresses published information that was materially wrong. A clarification adds a distinction needed to prevent a materially misleading understanding even when the original words were not literally false. An update records important information that became available after publication.

An update is not used to conceal a correction. Material corrections should identify the substance of the change and remain visible with the article. Minor spelling, formatting and grammatical fixes that do not alter meaning may be made without a formal notice.

A rebuttal is not the same as a correction. Under Korean press-remedy law it concerns a responsive statement to factual reporting and does not depend on the same finding that the original report was untrue.

• The published article URL.
• The exact passage, fact or presentation being challenged.
• Why it is inaccurate, misleading or in need of clarification.
• The correction, clarification, response or other action requested.
• Supporting records or sources where available, without sending unnecessary sensitive information.
• A name and email address so the newsroom can assess and answer the request.

The newsroom identifies the relevant article and version, checks the specific claim against reporting notes, sources and available evidence, and seeks additional information where needed. The subject, reporter or editor may be contacted as part of that review.

Breeze aims to acknowledge a usable request as newsroom capacity permits. It does not guarantee a final decision within seven business days; complex evidence, source-protection questions and legal issues can require longer. Urgent, material errors are prioritized.

If a change is warranted, the article should use the appropriate correction, clarification or update label. If the request is not accepted, Breeze may explain the editorial basis while protecting confidential sources and legally restricted information.

The Act on Press Arbitration and Remedies, etc. for Damage Caused by Press Reports distinguishes correction reporting, rebuttal reporting and follow-up reporting in specified circumstances. Those procedures have legal requirements and time limits that this page does not attempt to restate as individualized advice.
