ICAPP Adopts Busan Declaration, Endorses 2030 Busan World Expo Bid

Busan, South Korea - The City of Busan has announced that the International Conference of Asian Political Parties (ICAPP) adopted the "Busan Declaration," endorsing the bid for the 2030 Busan World Expo.

The ICAPP, established in 2000, is an international organization committed to promoting world peace and shared prosperity. It encourages exchange and cooperation among political parties in the Asia region, transcending political ideologies and backgrounds. Currently, the ICAPP represents over 360 political parties from 52 Asian countries.

The endorsement occurred during the 39th ICAPP Standing Committee Meeting held on May 1st in Busan. The adoption of the "Busan Declaration" is the first instance of an international organization supporting the 2030 Busan World Expo bid. Although this endorsement does not guarantee support from ICAPP member countries, it is expected to significantly enhance Busan's chances of hosting the event.

The "Busan Declaration" supports the pursuit of the 2030 Busan World Expo under the theme "Global Transformation for a Better Future" and calls on governments to back the bid.

Ha Tae-kyung, Member of the National Assembly, facilitated the adoption of the declaration through his tireless promotion of Busan and its 2030 World Expo bid to fellow ICAPP member parties since the selection process began last June.

Notably, major party representatives at the conference pledged to actively support Busan's World Expo bid in their respective countries.

Additionally, Busan Mayor Park Heong-joon and Deputy Mayor for Economic Affairs Lee Seong-kwon participated in various ICAPP events from May 1st to 2nd, directly promoting the 2030 Busan World Expo and highlighting the city's appeal and strengths.

Mushahid Hussain Syed, Co-chair of the ICAPP, expressed gratitude for the warm welcome in Busan and extended his best wishes for the successful hosting of the 2030 World Expo in his opening remarks.

Lee Seong-kwon, Busan Vice Mayor for Economic Affairs, stated, "The achievements made during this conference, from the selection of the Green City Busan theme to the adoption of the first-ever international organization's support declaration, are the results of close cooperation between Busan City and the ICAPP in promoting the 2030 Busan World Expo. We will continue to promote the city's charm, strengths, and the 2030 Busan World Expo through various international events."

The ICAPP's 39th Standing Committee Meeting and the 1st Corporate Consultative Council Inaugural Assembly were held in Busan from May 1st to 2nd. The events allowed the city to showcase its charm and the 2030 Busan World Expo bid to major Asian political parties and corporate representatives in attendance.

The 39th Standing Committee Meeting, held at Paradise Hotel in Haeundae on May 1st, adopted the "Busan Declaration" after discussing peace, prosperity, inter-state communication, and cooperation for resolving various issues and the role of political parties.

The 1st Corporate Consultative Council Inaugural Assembly convened on May 2nd, discussing the hydrogen economy, addressing climate crises, and promoting low-carbon and renewable energy industries for One Asia's shared prosperity.
