Busan Gears Up for the 2030 World Expo with Enthusiastic Citywide Events

In early April, the city of Busan, South Korea, will host numerous events expressing the city's desire to host the 2030 World Expo, in conjunction with the International Expo Bureau's inspection team visit. The events are aimed at highlighting the enthusiasm of Busan's citizens and showcasing the city's preparations.

Busan Mayor Park Heong-joon announced that various events, reflecting the city and its districts' efforts in urban environment improvement, safety management, transportation, and publicity, will be held to demonstrate citizen support for hosting the World Expo. This enthusiasm is considered a crucial factor in deciding the host city.

To showcase this support, the city and its 16 districts have prepared 67 citizen participation events, each highlighting their unique characteristics and strengths. For instance, Haeundae-gu will host the "2030 Expo Busan Proposal In Haeundae" event, featuring a sculpture and garden symbolizing the Expo, and various attractions at Haeundae Beach. Gwangalli Beach in Suyeong-gu will hold the "Jindu Eohwa" performance, reenacting traditional fishing with torches, and a drone light show displaying Expo-related slogans.

Other events include a "Quiz Tour" in Busan North Port Friendship Park, an "Expo Hope Dream Lantern Festival," an "Expo Hosting Prayer Wish Lantern Festival," and a "Nakdonggangbyeon Samsimni Cherry Blossom Festival," all aimed at boosting enthusiasm for hosting the Expo. Cultural and artistic exhibitions and performances will also take place citywide, including the "Dragon Valley Dance Festa" and a "Theme Tour Bus" highlighting local attractions.

Mayor Park Heong-joon emphasized the importance of the International Expo Bureau's inspection and encouraged citizens to participate in the various events to demonstrate their enthusiasm for hosting the Expo.
