Busan City Hosts Busking Events to Promote 2030 World Expo Bid

Busan Metropolitan City will host a busking event, February 11th, from 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm, at Millac the Market in Suyeong-gu, to promote the 2030 Busan World Expo bid. The "Made in Busan Pan" of the busking event will involve local indie bands working with the city government to perform songs related to the World Expo and to encourage citizens to support the bid.

The event aims to bring together Busan residents to celebrate and pray for the success of the 2030 Busan  World Expo bid, which has the theme of "Transforming the World, Sailing Toward a Better Future."

The event will feature performances by Busan-based indie bands, Danchan and Burning Soda, who will perform songs related to the World Expo. The event, held in four major tourist destinations in the city, is aimed at reaching out to different age groups and drumming up excitement ahead of the Bureau of International Exposition (BIE) site inspection in April.

In addition to the musical performance, the event will also include a quiz about the 2030 Busan World Expo for visitors to learn about the event in a fun and engaging way. Visitors who answer the quiz correctly will receive eco-friendly promotional souvenirs and have the opportunity to take a photo with Boogie, the city's communication character.

Mayor Park Hyung-jun emphasized the importance of citizens' support in the success of the 2030 Busan World Expo. He said, "The support and interest of citizens is the most important factor in attracting the success of the 2030 Busan World Expo. Our city will continue to promote close-to-citizen publicity to inform and communicate the 2030 Busan World Expo by visiting the site in person." He also urged citizens to show their support, from welcoming the due diligence team in April to the bid decision in November.

The city previously held a busking performance for the 2030 Busan World Expo on December 23rd, 2022, in conjunction with the 2022 Gwangbok-ro Winter Light Tree Festival, which received a positive response from citizens. The city is committed to promoting the World Expo and ensuring its success through events like these.
