Busan Welcomes International Students with a Special Seollal City Tour

Busan, South Korea - As Korea gears up to celebrate Seollal, the Lunar New Year, the city of Busan is taking steps to create a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere for its international community. Among the many initiatives planned, a unique city tour has been designed to help international students experience the holiday’s cultural richness while exploring the city’s vibrant attractions.

The “Busan City Tour Seollal Special Program,” set to take place on January 21, invites 50 international students to embark on a journey that showcases both Busan’s charm and the spirit of Seollal. This program aims to offer students an opportunity to connect with local traditions while alleviating feelings of homesickness during this family-oriented holiday.

Seollal, one of Korea’s most celebrated holidays, revolves around family gatherings, ancestral rituals, and traditional meals. For international students far from home, this season often brings a longing for familiarity and connection. To address this, the city of Busan has designed a program that not only highlights its famous landmarks but also introduces participants to the traditions and values associated with Seollal.

This city tour blends exploration with education, allowing participants to learn about Korean customs, including the symbolic significance of wearing hanbok (traditional Korean attire) and enjoying tteokguk (rice cake soup), a dish traditionally eaten to mark the start of a new year.

The two-hour city tour provides a curated journey through Busan’s most iconic locations. Starting with the scenic beauty of Gwangalli Beach and the sandy shores of Haeundae Beach, participants will also visit the Songdo Skywalk, a striking architectural feature that offers breathtaking coastal views. The itinerary is designed to offer a mix of popular landmarks and hidden gems, giving participants an immersive introduction to the city.

In addition to sightseeing, the tour offers moments of cultural interaction. Students will participate in hands-on activities that provide a deeper appreciation for Seollal’s traditions. From games to festive food, these experiences are designed to create a memorable holiday for all involved.

Beyond its special program for international students, Busan is leveraging the Seollal holiday to promote tourism and support local businesses. A series of promotional campaigns aims to attract visitors and encourage them to explore the city’s offerings.

Among these campaigns is the “Happiness for 20,000 KRW” package, which provides discounted access to major attractions like the Busan City Tour, Taejongdae Danubi Train, Busan Tower, and Nakdong River Eco-tour. This package, available from January 20 until sold out, is limited to 2,025 bundles, making it an enticing option for those looking to experience Busan on a budget.

Additionally, visitors can take advantage of a combined ticket offer for the Busan City Tour and Busan Tower, which includes a 50% discount on both attractions. This promotion runs through January 31 and is part of the city’s broader effort to enhance its appeal as a tourist destination.

The Seollal city tour is not just about sightseeing; it reflects Busan’s commitment to fostering inclusivity and building connections across cultures. By inviting international students to participate in this special program, the city aims to create a welcoming environment that celebrates diversity while showcasing its unique identity.

This initiative is also a testament to Busan’s vision of becoming a global hub for tourism and culture. Through programs like these, the city demonstrates its ability to blend tradition with modernity, offering a dynamic experience that resonates with both locals and visitors.

For those interested in joining the program, tickets can be purchased through the Busan City Tour Website or the ModiBusan Platform. The tour will depart from Busan Station at 10 AM on January 21, with convenient options for participants to register and secure their spots.

To enhance the experience, participants are encouraged to dress comfortably, bring a camera to capture the stunning views, and prepare for a day of exploration and cultural discovery.

Whether you are a first-time visitor or a long-term resident, Busan’s Seollal programs offer an extraordinary opportunity to experience the beauty of the city and its traditions. This holiday season, Busan invites everyone to come together, discover its treasures, and create memories that celebrate the joy of cultural exchange.
