Busan World Expo 2030: Bid Committee Moves Forward in Race to Host Event

The Busan World Expo 2030 Bid Committee held its third meeting on Friday, March 10th, at the Four Seasons Hotel in Seoul. The meeting, co-chaired by Prime Minister Han Duck-soo and Chey Tae-won, Chairman of the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry(KCCI), discussed the detailed plans for this year's bidding activities. The committee's focus was on external negotiation activities, Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) due diligence and competitive PT, as well as internal and external public relations. Chey Tae-won emphasized the importance of public-private sector collaboration to secure the 2030 World Expo bid in Busan, South Korea, at the end of November. He added that the private sector would actively support the bid, especially by preparing for the on-site due diligence, which is set to take place from April 3rd to April 7th. The committee also plans to develop various domestic public relations activities and expand the promotion of the Busan Expo in Paris during the BIE General Assembly.

The Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Energy has expressed active support for the Busan World Expo bid by hosting the 2023 World Climate Expo (WCE) at BEXCO in Busan from May 24th to 27th. The event aims to create a favorable atmosphere for the bid. The ministry plans to use all available diplomatic assets to negotiate the bid and provide necessary support to government ministries and the private sector for smooth negotiations.
