Seoul, South Korea - The Ministry of Government Legislation convened a roundtable on July 16th at the Seoul Smart Work Center conference room to improve the quality of the foreign language legal information service. This event aimed to gather insights from field experts who regularly provide consultations to foreigners living in Korea.

The Ministry's Easy Law service (www.easylaw.go.kr) is a comprehensive platform designed to help citizens easily access legal information categorized by daily life themes such as family, labor, and welfare. This service provides legal information in various formats, including booklets, card news, and Q&A sessions, ensuring that users can find and understand the information they need with ease.

The Easy Law service is particularly beneficial for foreign residents, as it offers legal information in 12 different languages. Topics covered include transportation, driving, housing leases, visa and passport regulations, employment of foreign workers, consumer rights, and social welfare. This multilingual approach is crucial in helping foreign residents quickly adapt to life in Korea by providing them with necessary legal information in their native languages.

During the roundtable, experts from foreign resident support centers and family centers discussed the development of essential legal information content for foreigners and innovative ways to deliver these services more conveniently. Key insights from the meeting included the need for concise and easily accessible information and the importance of tailoring legal information to the specific needs of different nationalities, considering the varying laws applicable to each.

The Planning and Coordination Officer at the Ministry emphasized, “With the increasing number of foreigners residing in Korea, the demand for daily life legal information is rapidly growing. We will actively incorporate expert feedback to ensure that the foreign language legal information service becomes an indispensable resource for foreigners living in Korea.”

The Easy Law platform also includes specific sections dedicated to various aspects of life and legal matters, such as employment, real estate, finance, and consumer rights. This makes it a one-stop resource for both Korean citizens and foreign residents to navigate legal issues effectively.
