Busan, South Korea – Busan will play host to an extraordinary cultural tribute honoring the 100th anniversary of Franz Kafka’s passing. KT&G Sangsangmadang proudly presents the exhibition, “GIFT Vol. 3: Franz Kafka,” running from December 7, 2023, to January 12, 2024. Admission is free, inviting audiences to immerse themselves in Kafka’s artistic and philosophical legacy.
The exhibition showcases over 70 of Franz Kafka’s original drawings, offering visitors a rare glimpse into the visual creativity of the legendary writer. These pieces are complemented by contemporary works from renowned Korean artists Noma, Park Sojin, and Buttercup. Their reinterpretations of Kafka’s existential themes create a dialogue between past and present, illuminating Kafka’s enduring relevance.
Structured into five chapters, the exhibition takes visitors on a journey through Kafka’s life and creative world, evoking the sensation of turning the pages of a living book. A standout feature is the magical artificial snowfall, falling hourly on weekends between 1 PM and 6 PM, transporting guests to the evocative ambiance of a winter’s night in Prague.
This immersive experience extends beyond visual art. Guests can step into a faithfully recreated version of Kafka’s writing studio, where they can participate in reflective writing exercises inspired by his minimalist workspace. Additionally, a “Metamorphosis”-themed photo zone invites visitors to step into the surreal world of one of Kafka’s most famous stories.
Collaborative events with the local bookstore “Kafka’s Night” enrich the experience with book talks and literary discussions. Visitors can also engage in a unique blueprint workshop, crafting art inspired by Kafka’s own drawings.
