Saha-gu District: An Emerging Workcation Destination

Busan, located on the southeastern coast of South Korea, is fast becoming a hub for workcations, where people can balance their professional and personal lives. Saha-gu district, in particular, presents a unique opportunity for companies and individuals seeking to experience this innovative work style. Despite not having a designated workcation center, Saha-gu’s growing economy and stunning landscapes make it an ideal location for a future workcation hub.

Thriving Economy and Beautiful Landscapes

Saha-gu district is home to many multinational corporations and local businesses, making it a thriving economic hub. The district is also known for its beautiful natural attractions, including the stunning Nakdong River and lush forests. This combination of a robust economy and stunning landscapes makes Saha-gu an ideal location for a workcation, where work and leisure can be enjoyed in equal measure.

Local Government and BreezeIn Collaboration

BreezeIn, a company that helps foreign investors invest in Busan, is working with local government, especially Saha-gu district, to bring the workcation experience to the area. With their experience and connections, they can help companies establish a workcation presence in Saha-gu and create a destination where employees can work, rest, and enjoy the beautiful scenery of the district.

Busan Creative Economy Innovation Center and Accommodation Support

The Busan Creative Economy Innovation Center has launched a website introducing Busan-style workcations and is accepting applications from domestic and foreign companies. Companies can make reservations for shared workspaces and experience programs through the website, and if they meet certain conditions such as staying for more than five days, they may receive accommodation support of 50,000 won per night. In addition, Busan tourism vouchers, including participation in various experience programs, are also available to companies.

Transforming Saha-gu into Nakdong River Techno Valley

Mayor Lee Gap-jun of Saha-gu, Busan, has announced plans to transform the district into the “Nakdong River Techno Valley.” The district plans to create 12 Knowledge Industry Centers (KICs) in the Sinpyeong and Jangnim areas, aimed at transforming the industrial complex into a hub for high-tech industries such as IT. The district also plans to improve its living infrastructure, including the construction of a 300-bed Seobusan Medical Center in 2025 and the completion of cultural centers, indoor gymnasiums, and a sunset sensory art path. Eulsukdo Island will also undergo renovations, including the addition of nature-friendly hotel and leisure facilities, the expansion of Gamcheon Cultural Village, and the creation of an ecological forest and youth experience facilities.

Enhancing Quality of Life in Saha-gu

In 2025, the Seobusan Medical Center will open its doors, offering a significant enhancement in the quality of healthcare services offered in Saha-gu. The city authorities also plan to further boost the level of living infrastructure in the district by constructing cultural centers, indoor gymnasiums, and a sunset sensory art path. With these developments in place, Saha-gu is poised to become a transportation and economic hub connecting West Busan, Gyeongnam, and the rest of the region, offering a new opportunity for growth and development.
