This groundbreaking event will feature designs from some of the world’s most prestigious architects, including Pritzker Prize winners, who will unveil their visionary concepts for six key development sites across the city.

Busan is poised to push the boundaries of urban development with its ambitious Special Architectural Zone Revitalization Pilot Project. This initiative, launched by the city in partnership with the Busan International Architecture Festival (BIAF) Organizing Committee, aims to create innovative, sustainable architectural landmarks by relaxing traditional building regulations in designated areas. The event, to be held on October 18th at the City Hall Auditorium, will see world-renowned architects—including Pritzker Prize-winning firms—present their bold designs to the public, offering a rare glimpse into the future of Busan’s cityscape.

Director of the Housing & Architecture Bureau at Busan City, emphasized the significance of the initiative: “This project is not just about constructing buildings—it’s about redefining what cities can be. We’re blending global talent with local vision to craft architectural landmarks that will place Busan firmly on the world map.”

The highlight of the event will be the unveiling of six pilot projects, designed by top-tier architectural firms from across the globe. Each firm was carefully selected for its expertise in integrating innovative design with sustainable urban planning.

Here’s a closer look at the six projects:

The event will not only showcase the designs but also serve as a competition, with a panel of expert judges evaluating the projects on creativity, feasibility, and sustainability. The results will be announced on October 22nd through Busan’s official Design Competition website, marking the next step in the city’s quest for architectural excellence.

In a move to engage the public, 500 attendees will be able to participate in the event by registering online from October 8th through the Busan International Architecture Festival website.
