Busan, South Korea – The city of Busan, in partnership with the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, announced the commencement of the 2024 Busan International Boat Show. Scheduled from April 19th to 21st, this year marks the event’s tenth anniversary, held at BEXCO and along the Suyeonggang River.
The Busan International Boat Show, co-hosted by the city and the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries along with the Korea Marine Leisure Network, BEXCO, and the Marine Leisure Equipment Industry Association, is set to showcase over 100 companies across 900 booths. Celebrating its tenth year, the event continues to bolster the competitiveness and public engagement of the domestic maritime leisure industry which began in 2014.
At the BEXCO Exhibition Hall 1, attendees can explore a plethora of marine and leisure activities, including yacht and boat engines, communication and safety equipment, and fishing gear. The event also facilitates business meetings, connecting local manufacturers with international buyers from over ten countries, aiding in the expansion of South Korea’s marine leisure market globally.
A forum on the revitalization of the marine leisure and tourism industry in the Southeast region is scheduled for April 19th, addressing business and policy responses post-COVID-19. The venue will also host indoor and outdoor experiential events, including kayak trials, indoor surfing, children’s fishing, and bracelet making using paracord ropes. A highlight for many will be the free boat rides available at the Suyeong River Exhibition Area.
The opening ceremony will be held on April 19th at 2:00 PM at BEXCO Exhibition Hall 1. It will include welcoming remarks, awards for this year’s top boats and innovations, and a guided tour of the exhibition area. Mayor Park Hyung-jun expressed pride in the event’s role in promoting the local maritime industry internationally, stating, “The Busan International Boat Show has established itself as a definitive event for showcasing the industry’s capabilities and innovations.”
