Busan City has announced that the 17th Busan Fireworks Festival will be held on December 17th in front of Gwangalli Beach, Dongbaek Island, and Igidae.
The 17th Busan Fireworks Festival, which was supposed to take place on November 5, was also canceled in the aftermath of the Itaewon disaster on October 29.
This fireworks festival, intended to bring comfort and vitality to citizens exhausted by the pandemic, is themed ‘Harmony of Busan.’
Busan City plans to enforce crowd control measures along Gwangalli Beach’s main access roads (16 spots). Visitors could walk freely on the event’s entrance route, but people are diverted by detours when crowded. Busan also intends to increase the number of CCTVs at critical bottlenecks surrounding the event venue from 16 to 64 in order to identify and control overcrowding in real-time.
“As the Busan Fireworks Festival, which has been postponed for three years, will resume in December, we will do our best to ensure that all visitors can enjoy the festival safely,” Busan Mayor Park Hyeong-joon remarked. “We will make Busan’s mature city image acknowledged to the globe in order to assist create a boom-up for the Busan World Expo 2030,” he added.
