Busan, South Korea – The city of Busan, in collaboration with the Korea Expo Organizing Committee, is set to operate a promotional booth for the 2030 Busan World Expo at the ‘2023 Korea Expo’, from May 13 to 15 at the Parc des Expositions Porte de Versailles in Paris, France.
The ‘2023 Korea Expo’ serves as a platform for over 200 South Korean companies to showcase their diverse K-industries, aimed at expanding their businesses in the European region. The 2030 Busan World Expo promotional booth aims to familiarize local entrepreneurs, spectators, and the media with Busan, the candidate city for the 2030 World Expo.
The booth features a 200-inch large LED screen displaying popular Korean Wave content, an exhibition hall introducing the main and sub-themes of the 2030 Busan World Expo, and a photo zone for commemorative photographs.
Lee Jung-jae, renowned actor and the first promotional ambassador for the 2030 Busan World Expo, will make a special appearance at the booth. Known for his role in the globally popular Netflix drama ‘Squid Game’, and for being the first Korean actor to win the lead actor award at the 74th Primetime Emmy Awards, Lee is expected to draw significant attention to the booth.
Despite his busy schedule, Lee has shown dedication to the promotion of the 2030 Busan World Expo. He will be attending the opening ceremony on May 13 at 10 a.m. local time and will participate in interviews supporting Busan’s bid for the Expo. Lee will also engage with fans at the photo zone, creating a symbolic pose representing the 2030 Busan World Expo and shouting “Host in Busan” to build consensus with spectators.
Furthermore, the large LED screen will showcase advertisements and a music video promoting the 2030 Busan World Expo, all featuring Lee Jung-jae, to highlight Busan’s attractions and strengths.
Busan Mayor Park expressed his anticipation for the event, saying, “By establishing the 2030 Busan World Expo promotional booth in Paris, where the headquarters of the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) is located, we expect to convey the appeal and strengths of Busan, the candidate city, and the passionate bidding atmosphere of South Korea more vividly to local spectators and major media outlets.”
The Mayor also thanked Lee Jung-jae for his participation despite his busy schedule and promised to redouble efforts in promoting Busan’s bid to the BIE member countries during the remaining period until the host city is decided.
In addition to the operation of the 2030 Busan World Expo promotional booth, the ‘2023 Korea Expo’ will also feature product showcases and business consultations to present the latest trends and technological strengths that can raise interest in Korea, and further facilitate economic and cultural exchanges between Korea and France.
